Lemon Chutney (Gojju)


Lemon Chutney (Gojju)
Cook 4 Ripe Lemons well. Remove the Seeds. Fry 1 Tsp of Jeera and 1 Tsp of Whole Peppercorn. Grind the fried ingredients along with the cooked lemon. Mix the ground paste with salt and jaggery per taste and boil for a few minutes. Lemon Chutney is ready.

Bitter gourd Bellagayi (Sweet and Sour bitter gourd chutney)


Slice bitter gourd length wise and boil in tamarind water with salt. Boil until tamarind juice evaporates. Add jaggery, salt and one teaspoon red chili powder boil it until it thickens. We can add one t.able spoon fried bengal gram. It is optional.

Bitter Gourd Curry

Hagalakaayi Palya ( Bitter Gourd Curry )
Chop Bitter gourd into small pieces (one kg ). Add salt and turmeric powder, mix well and keep aside for one hour. After an hour, remove water from the bitter gourd. In a heavy bottomed pan heat three spoons of oil ( coconut oil will be more tasty ) add two spoons of urad, chana da , mustard seeds,  ten green chilies cut into small pieces and curry leaves. Once the mustard seeds splutter, add Bitter gourd. Put it on low flame and cook for ten minutes.  add half coconut ground to coarse paste. Add salt to taste, one spoon sugar and two spoons of amachur powder. Cook it on low low flame for half an hour.


Hagalakaayi palya is ready to serve ..We can keep it for 15 days ....

ಸೀಮೆಬದನೆಕಾಯಿ ಪಲ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ಸಿಪ್ಪೆಯ ಚಟ್ನಿ ...
ಸೀಮೆಬದನೆಕಾಯಿ ಸಿಪ್ಪೆ ತೆಗೆದು ಎರಡು ಒಣಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿ ಹುರಿದು ,ತೆಂಗಿನಕಾಯಿ ತುರಿಯ ಜೊತೆಗೆ  ರುಚಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕಷ್ಟು ಉಪ್ಪು ,ಹುಣಿಸೇಹಣ್ಣು ಹಾಕಿ ರುಬ್ಬಿ ,ಸಾಸಿವೆ ,ಕರಿಬೇವಿನ ಒಗ್ಗರಣೆ ಹಾಕಬೇಕು .ಹೆಚ್ಚಿದ ಸೀಮೆಬದನೆಕಾಯಿ ಯನ್ನು ಪಲ್ಯ ಮಾಡಬಹುದು .

Now it is water melon season ..you can enjoy the fruit ,but don't throw away white portion ,Remove the green part ,and grind white portion into fine paste, Add wheat flour ,salt and knead well.water is not needed ..make tasty chapatis,You can also   prepare Majjige huli ,kootu ,chutney  from this .
